Robert Burns was born in 1759 and dying at the age of 37 in 1796.  He was arguably Scotland’s greatest poet. His work has had a hugh influence on subsequent Scottish Culture and Society from the late eighteenth century onwards. The poet was born in Alloway, Ayrshire and died in Dumfries. As well as writing original compositions, He also collected popular folk songs from across Scotland. Frequently adapting them. Many of his poems have become iconic. Including ‘A Man’s a Man for a’That’; ‘Auld Lang Syne‘ and ‘Tam o’Shanter’. Each year on the 25th January a popular celebration known as Burns Night is held in Scotland and around the world to commemorate the life of the poet.
